When you arrive at the airport, park or make sure you are dropped off at the arrivals level to avoid the crush of humanity. This is an especially great tip if you are leaving in the morning because nobody will be around on arrivals. This way you can slip into the airport without dealing with crowds and just take an escelator to the departures level. Believe me, this will save you sometime before you get in line with the rest of the herd. And when you arrive in your destination city, have your family or friends pick you up at the departures gate... there will be less people trying on departures than arrivals when you get in, especially if you arrive later in the evening.
